Lapa's main thoroughfare is teaming with dinner options but its latest addition, La Esquina, offers a multi-cultural taste of something different. The menu has everything from burritos and cous cous to Greek salad and comes in a hybrid of Spanish, Portuguese and English. That's not the only surprise in this irreverent little venue, which also specialises in a range of cocktails from the time-honoured Tom Collins to a wide selection of bespoke fruity concoctions of the house, mixed with cachaça, rum, vodka or sake as you like it. With the unbeatable policy of staying open until the last person leaves, La Esquina (The Corner) is a very welcome new face.
