Blink and you'll miss it, the entry to the cool little clothes shop Homegrown is up a nondescript staircase just off Ipanema's busy high street on Rua Maria Quitéria. Building up a cult following with their limited edition trainers and tees, fans can keep abreast of new arrivals via their handy blog (and you can whimper at some of the ones that you missed - the limited edition Brazilian Nike Air Max flew out but fresh styles are always coming in).

Refurbished at the end of 2012 to expand the exhibition arm of their set up, the rear of the store is now a dedicated space for monthly art shows by local and national stars of the, mostly graf, underground. That means the amount of clobber has been reduced slightly, but the range of trainers and caps (and even some very snazzy socks) is bigger than ever, with the skull-centric logo of their own brand now firmly to the fore.
