Designed to bring together work spaces, shopping, educational facilities and leisure all in one place, Downtown was the first 'lifestyle mall' in Rio de Janeiro. Attempting to recreate a small-town atmosphere, the pedestrian boulevards are light and full of fashion and beauty shopping options, gyms and a large medical centre. Offices and a variety of courses from business to Japanese language are held, with the obligatory chain bars also well represented for that all important down time, if not particularly originality.
