Moviola is exactly the sort of café-cum-bookshop that you might think would be ten-a-penny in Laranjeiras but are still rare as hen's teeth, all the more so since the sad demise of nearby Espaço Rio Carioca. So movie fans rejoice at the enormous wall of films out the back, categorised by region ('essential Korean', anyone?), genre, director and finally name (the far corner being the film buff equivalent of furtively perusing the top shelf magazines it would appear). Then there are the books, mainly art (street art being a particular favourite), film and music-related, and finally a good café to grab a capuccino and reflect on that new purchase, complete with wi-fi. Well, it calls itself a bistrô but that is perhaps pushing the fact they serve bruschettas, cheese platters and imported beers a touch too far.
