The food is spicy, but its the live music at Severyna that really heats the place up and even on a sleepy Monday night, indoors is bristling with the sound of forró. Musically speaking, different musical styles punctuate the week, peaking with an excellent Beatles cover band on Saturdays. On the menu, north eastern fayre dominates, and the tabuas (mixed platters) are a great bet for larger groups, though the moqueca fish stew is also excellent, especially with some of the firey house chili oil drizzled nearby and a side order of pumpkin mash. All can be washed down with perfectly-chilled bottles of beer or try the unusual fruit juices from the region like the sweet graviola. A relaxed, mostly local and Brazilian tourist-crowd, the exposed brickwork and rustic feel is nothing fancy, but the silk shirts still come out to play, and you are highly likely to get asked for a dance if you stick around.
