With the likes of Casa Beleza and Casa Cool Beans so close by, the windy road from which Villa Laurinda takes its name has become something of a mini-hub of the bohemian neighbourhood's tourism. Once inside the grand entrance, the pool and gardens draw guests alongside the grand, pale yellow building to marvel up at its deck and wonder what lies indoors. The seven rooms do vary greatly in both size and quality, a fact reflected in the reasonable rates, particularly if the triple-single is an option for close groups.

The two prettiest offerings are undoubtedly the 'Império' and 'Tijuca' suites, where the original wood features are best used to up the cosiness factor, but you won't be spending too much time in the room when the communal spaces are so enticing. A lounge and library (complete with grand piano) are available for guests to use, and the wi-fi reaches to all corners of the garden.
