Formerly called Stone of a Beach, this hostel is now part of the dominant South American chain Che Lagarto and has plenty to offer travellers of most budgets. Set in an old mansion on one of Copacabana's main thoroughfares, there is a rooftop terrace with swimming pool and barbecue area, a TV and games room and a great bar in the basement that hosts a variety of club nights drawing DJs from all over the city. Over three floors there are eight dorms (sleeping between 4-12 people) with prices varying accordingly from R$35 per night, but ask for one of the quieter rooms if the late night partying isn't your thing.
