Set in the heart of one of SP's most iconic buildings – that's Oscar Niemeyer's majestic Copan building – this sprawling art space (or 'cultural association', as they prefer to call it) opened during the Art Bienal in 2012. Run by an energetic young bunch of arty types, the huge gallery opened with an ambitious, brilliantly realised group show that took over most of its many spaces, and has since also been a venue for performance pieces. A mission to interact with some of SP's other galleries and institutions has so far resulted in shows at Pivô by the hip young galleries Emma Thomas and Mendes Wood. If there's something on at Pivô, don't miss the chance to get inside this amazing building.
Note: From February to June 2013, renovations to the entrance hall to make the upstairs gallery accessible to all mean that the entrance will be, temporarily, via the shopping arcade inside the Copan, next to the entrance to Block B of the building.
