An excellent option for a Saturday feijoada (pork and bean stew), Cachaçaria do Rancho is also well-known and well-loved for its live pagode – a subgenre of samba – played by the local group Chama Nóis, who strike up under a canopy of leafy trees. No feijoada is complete without a bracing shot of cachaça, and Rancho’s menu has 1,300 varieties from Brazil's varied cachaça-distilling regions. Keep it local with one of São Paulo's cachaças: Três Coronéis, Três Leões or Catedral (R$10 a measure).
