This bare concrete space could almost be a very beautiful multi-storey car park. But it's a gallery, designed by renowned São Paulo architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the winner of the 2006 Pritzker Prize – the Oscars of the architecture world. Hit exhibitions have included British artist Richard Galpin, who hand-scalpels the emulsion from his own photos of chaotic city-scapes, and who has exhibited at London's British Museum. Plus there’s an annex across the street that serves as an artists’ studio.
