Once merely a popular butcher run by the self-same Talho, it was his son Bento who suggested the family business spread its wings a little. Today the great and the good of Leblon flock to Talho Capixaba for quality produce and aren't afraid to pay for the privilege. As well as divine chocolate croissants, pastry twists and baguettes you can pick up the occasional leg of lamb and there are always specials to be had if you are lucky, from fresh livers to cured ham.
Almost any sandwich imagineable can be created on the spot, with breads and ingredients measured by weight so the prices, though never too excessive, can become confusing. Stand at the counter and eat on the hoof, or if you have time and luck on your side, the outdoor tables are the perfect place to watch the world go by. The excessive prices come when you start to peer around the deli, with imported jams fetching upwards of R$20 a pot, but its still well worth a rummage.
