Jobi is another one of those unremarkable bars that are nevertheless beloved by cariocas. Small and welcoming, its perhaps Rio's quintessential boteco. The beer is good and palate-stingingly cold, the snacks on the enormous menu are tasty and the three regular waiters are as cheerful as the two Portuguese owners are lugubrious. Jobi has oodles of charm, though, as proven by the long queues outside every weekend evening. Stick around for a whole night and watch as time run backwards - older couples and relatively sober groups early on give way to the younger crowds and hardened drinkers.
