The Flamengo branch may have arrived first, but the Ipanema arm of the Oi Futuro cultural centres has embraced the principles behind the name even more than the original. With more of an emphasis on performance arts and music, the annual Geração Eletrônica event in June embodies all that is great about the place, uniting avant-garde electronic music, DJs and film makers for more than a month of creativity and expression. That isn't to say the more traditional musical avenues of bossa nova and jazz are not also represented to the fullest.
