The Casa França-Brasil opened in 1990 to fill a gap in visual art spaces for both the established old-guard and the newest talent. The building's overhaul added a new gastronomic space and reading room, as well as providing a wealth of exhibition space for sculpture, painting, photography and other installations from Brazil and overseas. A fully fledged cultural immersion rather than just another museum, they have some pretty out-there shows on from time to time so head over and spend the best part of a day appreciating its varied charms.
