Carlos Alberto Sobral began selling resin necklaces and accessories in the '70s at the General Osório Hippie Fair in Ipanema, and his success has now taken his jewellery across Brazil and the World. In fashion mecca Paris he beat 600 designers to the Etòile de Mode prize at the Eclat de Mode fashion awards, awarded by a panel of judges from the industry, and now has stores in airports and cities the world over selling his trademark distinctive, chunky pieces. Household accessories now form part of the selection too, with everything from bar stools to toilet seats and picture frames given the bright, plastic treatment to wonderfully kitsch effect.
