When it comes to location, the Dutch-owned Julius Brasserie, is distinctly hard to beat, yet still the wealth of botecos all around make this upmarket restaurant stand alone in style. With a chef who plied his early trade in Paraty, the seafood is a speciality as are the salads, with the Boursin (R$28.50) being the house favourite; goats cheese, mushrooms, tomato confit and mixed leaves in a glorious pile up. Of the main dishes, the shrimp risotto with pumpkin and goiaba sauce (R$42.50) and couscous in homemade harissa sauce (R$34) don't lose any ground among some excellent meatier options, enjoyed with quality, imported beers such as Heineken and Leffe.

Wonderful atmosphere and great service. Starters are very good and dessert delicious.
