Named after the cult (and wayward) writer Charles, Bukowski the club is a homage to the man's genius in more than just name. Set in a beautiful old mansion on an otherwise quiet, residential Botafogo street, the queues snaking around the block outside soon after opening tell their own story. Grabbing a seat in the huge courtyard (complete with outdoor bar) around the back of the building makes an early arrival worth the effort, and once indoors the resident DJ Rafael Barreto keeps the fists pumping and hair flailing with a never-ceasing selection of good old rock'n'roll.
