Look closely at the façade of this shop and you’ll see that the front window is in fact a glass box on wheels; sometimes the entrance is on the right, sometimes on the left. Inside, observant types will spot incredible attention to detail all over the shop; from the tiny calendar that needs changing daily to the cardboard structures displaying laser-cut accessories. There is a subtle mix of contrasts: fashionable yet friendly; obvious yet understated. Clothes, designed by Yamamoto as well as other young designers, are displayed on scaffolding structures, with the designers’ names written on personalised car registration plates.
Yamamoto’s collections experiment with paper, felt, silks, origami and geometry, making her pieces unique. The inspiration behind her Spring 2012 collection is nature. Don’t be afraid to try on the garments to really get a feel for their fit and thoughtful design. The prices reflect the time, quality and skill involved in the creations with long dresses starting at R$600, kimonos at R$700 and tops around R$280.
