Starting as just a one-stage operation in 1994 (the 462-seater Sala Marília Pêra), the Leblon Theatre now holds three. The Sala Fernanda Montenegro opened two years later with room for 417 theatregoers, and more recently the 200-seat Sala Tônia Carrera opened in 2007, augmenting not just the size but the importance of the venue as a major cultural hub for the neighbourhood. Showing everything from adult to alternative and kid's shows, there is also a cultural centre and book shop lurking behind the main doors.
