The Galpão Gamboa is an official Organization of Civil Society and Public Interest (OSCIP), designed to create opportunities, offer training and encourage social interaction for children, adolescents and seniors from less privileged areas of Rio, such as the Morro da Providência, Zona Portuária, Gamboa, Saúde and Santo Cristo. All of this is achieved through culture, sport and health programs, incentivizing citizens to recognize their enormous potential within the wider society.
Emerging from the social projects that actor Marco Nanini and his producer friend Fernando Libonat have been running for over twenty years, their remit runs from adult and children's theatre to dance shows, all priced to open up the events to the public at large. The space is also used for rehearsals, exhibitions and TV productions and local cultural productions.
