The beaches of Rio left enough of an imprint on Lenny Niemeyer's imagination to convert the then landscape gardener into a full time, and now globally renowned, bikini designer. Having found the Cidade Maravilhosa sorely lacking in beachwear that echoed her idea of what was chic on the sands, she bought a few kilos of lycra, hired a seamstress, and got creating. Expanding into empty rooms in the building where she lived, before long there was a full-on industry at work that today feeds fifteen shops across the country (though no longer from home of course). Nature's elements still touch her work, with floral patterns and colours the running theme of the elegant items.
