After dark along Avenida Atlântica is this unusual fair occupying the full width of the central reservation in front of the Hotel Rio Othon. Unusual in that it runs from nightfall until after midnight, it is something of an incongruous affair but the arrival of the Museum of Sound and Image should banish once and for all the jaded memory of the Help nightclub that once stood here. Plenty of art can be found to browse through, though a lot is of the mass-produced variety and not very inspiring. Football shirts by the thousand, almost all of them unofficial, line the rails too, so only for the die-hard market lover or for an emergency last minute souvenir if the Hippie Fair isn’t doable.
