Tucked away by Santos Dumont airport, this al fresco little locals' club Santa Luzia is one of the best (indeed one of the only) attractions in the area, not only for its ever-popular Friday night samba, but also the incredible view from the terrace. Known locally as Samba Luzia, from here you can take in the majesty of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf from the comfort of your drinks table. Big names in samba such as Beth Carvalho and Moyseis Marques have starred here. The club also hosts parties and private events, and during carnival its fabulous setting makes a great spot to party until the sun rises over the ocean. Get there early to get a table.
