Cariocas love The Beatles almost as much as they love a good feijoada, so combining the two for a month-long pre-Carnival warm up was a master stroke.  After winning the award for most hyped bloco of 2011, Sargento Pimenta's 2012 effort in the impersonal surrounds of Flamengo park was something of a disappointment. Back in the confines of Fundição Progresso, however, their rousing covers of the Liverpudlian legends, including a funk version of A Hard Day’s Night, All My Loving in the style of a marchinha and a samba-kissed I Wanna Hold Your Hand are allowed to thrive once more. Expect all that and no doubt a few surprises added to the repertoire as the band gears up for their 2013 bloco with this essential four-date session complete with a large helping of feijoada.
