One of the best cafés in town for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch, Cafeína offers several comprehensive options to battle the mid-morning hunger pangs. The house combo for two people (R$55.60) delivers a tray of yoghurt and granola, juices, toasts, ham and cheese galore, while the low fat option (R$38.90) replaces the worst offenders with papaya, cottage cheese and wholegrain breads.

The chocolate croissants are stacked with the sweet stuff and will serve two at a push, the coffee is robust, and the sandwiches and grilled chicken and steak will cover the hungrier roamer with ease. The afternoon tea for two (R$44.90) is good competition for the breakfast in terms of comprehensive coverage - brownie, tea or coffee, custardy madeleines, breads, cheeses and jams - and as the sun goes down you'll find a decent wine list and beers to round things off nicely.
