Pinheiros welcomes its first major theatre – Teatro Geo – which opened its doors to the public on 30 March 2012. With a 3,000-square-metre space and seating for up to 627 people, Teatro Geo will bring bigger, more ambitious productions to Pinheiros, hosting major national as well as international shows. The theatre, located inside the Instituto Tomie Ohtake, will be run by the events producer Geo, organisers of major events like the 2012 Lollapalooza music festival and the mega musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The US company Base Entertainment will be working in partnership with Geo on the programming schedule.
