Championing a more integrated, lifestyle approach to yoga, the DeRose method has found a willing audience among cariocas looking for an escape from Rio's temptations. It's Leblon arm, founded in 2001 by teacher Vanessa de Holanda, herself a student of Master DeRose in Curitiba, hosts classes, workshops and talks on the SwáSthya discipline that brings philosophical elements to the fore. There are English-speakers among the six instructiors, and Friday afternoons are a film and food session, with Saturdays devoted to workshops.
