Eñe landed in Rio in 2009 following its huge success in São Paulo. Owned by twins Javier and Sergio Torres it has already won a place among the elite of avant-garde Spanish restaurants, though that remains a fairly niche market in the city. Leaving satisfied customers in his wake is Chef Joaquim Bo Jane, and the setting is a striking architectural project by Juan Pablo Rosenberg.
For an even more memorable experience choose a table on the varanda complete with views of São Conrado beach so that as the seven-dish tasting menu comes and goes, incorporating such delights as tuna tartar with pineapple and manioc chips (R$32) (pictured), and two new grouper dishes - one grilled (R$54) and one as the basis for a ravioli filling with mushrooms (R$56), the view out is as good as that of the food. Leave some room for the chocolate churros dessert (R$17).

The restaurant may have a nice appearance and a well-trained staff but the food was truly dreadful. We ordered the “Gran Menu Degustacão,” which was eight courses. The first two courses were OK, the rest got worse and worse. The only saving factor was the excellent wine, which we drank a lot of to get the awful food down. I do not recommend wasting your money – which you would spend a lot and leave feeling cheated and unsatisfied.
