Artist Diego Belda has turned his creative hand to cuisine at his restaurant Rothko, which opened in early 2011. Drawing inspiration from a number of cuisines, each dish is a beautiful composition of flavours and vibrant colours. Order a selection of small dishes – bocadilhos – or go for a less creative but equally tasty main course. The downsides? Slow service, and a fair few menu items not available. Teething troubles, we hope.

Hi Muddy, so sorry to hear this. Our critic really liked it, in particular the small 'bocados' which have consistently delivered on flavour and presentation, on every visit. We're planning another trip soon to test it – and in particular the burgers – again.

Starting to lose confidence in the critic`s choice star here. I had lunch here today and everything from entry to exit was forgettable. We ordered two burgers which appear to be the majority of their menu. Mine was supposed to be spicy and came with a health warning. It was far from spicy with some random shredded chillies and some sweet salsa. The French burger with gruyere and shitake had some canned mushrooms instead of shitake. The potato wedges were awful, soggy and saturated with oil from being twice fried. The waitress was indifferent at best and bordering on arrogant. Couldn`t get out of the restaurant quick enough
