Until the advent of Sinônimo, Lapa was a party zone without much in the way of choice for the LGBT community. Not ones to miss a trick, Sinônimo's owners have packed pretty much everything into this three-floor venue; a stage, frequently graced by the ubiquitous Suzy Brasil and similarly fabulous performers, a superior cocktail bar and a smoking area on the third floor. Fridays and Saturdays are live music nights, and resident DJs Sandrin Pelágio and Márcio Colt entertain the crowds from the unusually early (for Lapa) time of 8pm. It does get busy in there, so try to arrive early when you'll also benefit from very reasonable entry rates.
