The official name of this ground is Estádio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho, and it is the home turf for football club Corinthians. It is much smaller than Morumbi, with a capacity for 40,000 fans. The stadium is mainly open-air and the majority of the tickets sold are for general seating.
In the event of rain a stretch of numbered (numerada) seats running down one side of the field is the only section of the stadium that is partially covered. The stadium plaza also serves as home to the city’s Museu do Futebol. The museum’s most valued artefact is the shirt that was worn by Pelé during the 1970 World Cup Final in Mexico.
