O Mercado Feira Gastronômica food fair has gotten bigger and better since it started in 2012, growing in the number of food stalls and visitors, and smoothing out some of the logistical problems that plagued it at the start. For their first event of 2014, following their December 2013 edition in the Modelódromo do Ibirapuera, O Mercado is back at a new venue – the multidisciplinary cultural centre, Centro Cultural São Paulo.
The inaugural Centro Cultural edition will have a green theme, as event organisers plan to foster healthy home cooking by distributing seeds for visitors to plant and eventually cook with at home. The new location will still allow for open-air eating and sharing of the market's delights, this time with spectacular city views atop the centre's lush elevated garden.
Expect to try food from some of the original lineup of chefs, including Henrique Fogaça of Sal Gastronomia and Checho Gonzales (serving ceviche), as well as from Daniela França Pinto of Marcelino Pan y Vino. The event is also set to welcome back Cervejaria Nacional – unless the city once again puts the kibosh on their beer booth at the last second, as they did in December.
Keep up with the latest info on the O Mercado Facebook page.
