As the name suggests, the casinos of Las Vegas were the inspiration for the decor at this club – once one of the jewels in São Paulo’s glittering clubland crown, and one of the first to open on the now throbbing Rua Augusta. Vegas is still invariably packed with hipsters, curious youngsters with short fringes and leather jackets, and serious music fans who go for everything from rock, electronic music, to hip hop and funk. Glitzy chandeliers light the bar, while a small room at the back is popular with couples who vie for a spot on one of the red leather sofas. The second dancefloor, downstairs, opens only on the busiest nights and is one of the club’s highlights, with a hypnotic lighting system that adds a fun dimension to the dancing. Be sure to check what’s on on the night you’re going, as there’s fairly heavy rotation between genres from night to night. Saturdays are for commercial hits lovers, Thurdays are for rockers.
