Opened in June 2011, Katia DaCosta's centre in a quiet corner of Humaitá has already become a big hit with carioca yoga devotees. The long, thin school packs them in, with 26 one-hour classes every week training the hardy souls in one of the more strenuous forms of the discipline that allows the use of belts and blocks to perform the trickier asanas (postures). Focussing on strength and posture, the props are designed to minimise risk too, making it a good choice for all ages.
