Opened in 2003, Privilège Búzios marked this small peninsula's arrival as Rio's very own weekend getaway-meets-clubbing mecca. Long after the likes of Brigitte Bardot first put Búzios on the map for the holiday home-having cariocas, the international superclub rubber stamped its reputation as a hedonist's paradise. The last decade has seen international DJ stars like Steve Angello, Carl Cox and Deep Dish take to the decks, galvinizing the club's status as one of the most important in Rio state if not Brazil as a whole. The main dancefloor opens up as if by magic once the first few hundred people have populated the bar, with the outdoor decked terrace a fine place to soak up a few drinks before heading inside. From here the usual array of scantily-clad dancing girls, expensively-clad locals and booming house music takes over, and before you know it its 7am and time to hit the beach.
