Traditionally one of the most upmarket areas in the city, Jardins offers excellent shopping possibilities, particularly in the fashion stakes and where the big designers are concerned. A roster of designer names both Brazilian and international have stores in this chic 'hood. There are also plenty of independent stores, too, so you'll be hard pushed not to find something you want, need or just must have.
Shopping here can have its downsides, too, however. Be on your guard against the likes of eye-wateringly overpriced, flimsy cotton dresses, as well as chunky costume jewellery with prices that match its weight in gold – savvy shoppers know to pick it up for a fraction of the price on Rua 25 de Março. That said, armed with a well trained eye, you can find good quality pieces for up to R$200, and quirky, fun items for as little as R$18.
If window shopping is all you’re after, Jardins’ tree-lined streets, designer boutiques and strategically placed coffee shops make it an excellent shopping destination. Make your way along one of the streets below, or just head out and see what you find.
