Running continuously since 1956, this open-air market in the city's historic centre has 600 stands and a wide selection of food, including Japanese yakisoba; acarajé, the deep-fried Bahian shrimp treat; and common or garden hot dogs. There is also a large open-air gallery where local artists sell paintings.
