To all the Hunger Games fans out there, Catching Fire will not disappoint. It is one of the rare instances where the sequel beats the original movie. The follow-up of the 2012 hit is slimmer, tenser, and more dramatic. The film is engaging and exhilarating every minute of the two and half hour long action packed fun.
You might have guessed it - yes, there is another Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) needs to fight in, though this time it’s more like The Hunger Games All Stars. The new show runner Heavensbeen (Philip Hoffman) promises President Snow (Donald Sutherland) to let Katniss die at the right moment.
The Oscar winning J-Law continues to impress with outstanding performances while her counterpart Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) continues to fell short. Both figuratively and literally.
Of course, just like other successful film franchises (Harry Potter series for example), the third and final part of the Hunger Games triology will be released in two parts: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One and Part Two due in 2014 and 2015 separately. With its current quality, I am more than willing to pay for both.
