Now in a new location, Voodoohop – a nomadic party with European flavours adored by the alternative crowd – brings São Paulo a lineup blending the best of national and international underground electronica. From Paris, DJ collective Tigersushi Bass System, represented by DJ Mattias (head of Tigersushi records) promotes a mix of new wave, punk-funk and acid house with influences coming from diverse musical icons like David Bowie and Brian Eno. Another feline follows – Mundo Tigre – a solo project by Maurício Takara from the Desmonta label; by incorporating both analogue and digital media, Mundo Tigre creates an experimental and undefinable type of electronica music.
Third up, Psilosamples is a project by Minas Gerais native Zé Rolê blending samples of folk and popular Brazilian songs with electronic beats resulting in a very original dance music style that escapes the typical oontz oontz techno and house styles. Closing out this night’s exclusive performance schedule is German collective Bachstelzen, responsible for many underground parties in Berlin. Their setlist, inevitably, harkens back to Kraftwerk. That’s a good thing.
