The architects Isay Weinfeld and Marcelo Kogan’s great achievement, arguably, is a brick-and-wood beacon of simplicity and style. The decor unites the old-school, clubby charm of hefty leather armchairs in the foyer with chic, contemporary twists and a sunken lobby bar, while the rooms are luxuriously large and well lit, with large windows and gleaming wooden floors. Fine views of the city complement the restrained colour scheme.
The Fasano fulfills every expectation of a luxury hotel, from its impeccable service to its unbeatable location, tucked on a sidestreet in the heart of Jardins. The only fly in the ointment is the hefty R$45 charge for Wi-Fi – disappointing in a hotel that pays such close attention to detail. Downstairs, Baretto bar is an excellent spot for chic live music shows, while the eponymous Fasano restaurant is simply one of the best restaurants on the continent.
