Magnificent 7: Wobble

Rio's bass lovers drop their top seven speaker-rattling classics that light up the floor at Fosfobox.

The crew behind Rio's original dubstep night, Wobble, are keen to stress that their love of bass culture extends beyond the confines of dubstep itself, stretching into drum'n'bass, breakbeat, UK garage and even 'fidget' house. Heavy bass unites those genres, and that is what lies at the heart of Wobble, the packed nights at Fosfobox that have already had the likes of DJs Freak and Nedu Lopes guesting on the turntables alongside residents Rodrigo S, Billy The Kid and Smirk Revenge.

Wobble put their heads together for Time Out Rio to come up with their own Magnificent 7 tracks that represent their sound ahead of their party at Fosfobox on 18 May, here is what they had to say;

"We have prepared a little tracklist that is totally in the Wobble style, from classics like Skream's 'Midnight Request Line' and 'Night' by Benga and Coki, to the poppier end of dubstep with Redlight's 'What You Talkin About?' and Magnetic Man's 'I Need Air'. The future directions of bass culture are explored with Lone's 'Crystal Caverns 1991' and Blawan's 'Getting Me Down' (which samples Brandy's 'I Wanna Be Down' to thrilling effect).
